Cask at PoW, Farnborough. Sweet chocolate aroma? Is there a hint of chilli or is that my imagination? Dark, with a ruby tint. Frothy beige head. Initially a light creamy choc sweetness. Some bitterness then comes through in the finish, which is also when the chill becomes evident. However it is not overly intrusive. Medium bodied. Relatively thin. Flat carbonation. Long astringent finish. It's really in the aftertaste that the chilli stands out. Not bad. Spices but for me It's well balanced.

Level 42 Bottleshare and no Mark King in sight. Thanks to Padraig. Clear brown beer, thin pale tan head. Soft dark malts with a little cream. Bitterish dark chocolate. Too much chilli bite. If you like beer to taste like chilli - recommended. If like me you are utterly over this sort of nonsense - avoid!

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Padraig. Pours black-brown with a frothy, tan head. The nose has some ripe berries, cocoa, mellow roast, toasted toffee. Medium sweet flavour with modest chili heat, more ripening berries, dry cocoa. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with chili burn, mellow cocoa, scorched earth, raisins. Nice beer.

The taste is smooth, mellow, slight warming chilli spice, vanilla, treacle, rocky road, cocoa and tobacco with a dry, spicy finish. Medium body and average carabontion. Decent balance.
