A clear dark golden beer with a small white head. Aroma of caramelized malt, biscuit, some honey. Taste of mild sweet caramelized malt, hints of honey, toffee, mild spicy bitterness.

Bottle. Amber with a foamy white head that never quite disappears. Aroma of biscuit, light herbs and flowers. Not as rich as some, but mouthfilling with herbal bitterness that's enough to lift away the sweetness. Gulpable, not bad at all.

Appearance: clear deep gold to pale amber with a moderate off-white frothy head of good retention. Aroma and taste: grain, bread, toast, honey, herbal hop, light to medium sweet and bitter. Mouth feel: medium body, average carbonation. Overall: pretty fair. Never used to like Höss but this is good.

500ml bottle from the Offie, Leicester. Light reddish-brown, clear. There's a small amount of visible carbonation. Caramel, tangerine and a woody note in the aroma. Taste is sweet throughout, reminiscent of toffee candies. Long sweet finish with heavy carbonation on the body. This is about as one-dimensional a beer as you're likely to have, but it's still pretty good.

500ml flip cap bottle from Mitchell's Wines Meadowhead - Rich orange-brown body with a fluffy white top. Sweet malty nose with subtle hop aroma, then a roast malty body with burnt toffee, hints of oranges and roast nuts and then a dryish and a sweet lasting end.
