Bottle thanks to cgarvieuk dregs run. Appearance - deep brown to black and opaque. Nose - wood, prunes with a light varnish note (though not offensive). Taste - raisins, prunes, wood and booze. Palate - medium bodied, rich and sweet middle with a little dry woodiness closing it out. Overall - interesting beer!

330ml bottle. Pours almost black with a creamy beige head with great retention. Aroma of dark fruits, chocolate, roast malt, liquorice. Taste is fruity, dark malts, liqourice, chocolate, roast, fruit cakey, a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied, smooth, soft carbonation. Bit of a weird thing about this that's hard to put a finger on, seen a couple of people say nail varnish, I kinda get that... aside from that it's a nice beer.

Black colored, long lasting creamy tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of dark chocolate, some burnt sugar and strong dark fruits, some banana. Taste is medium to very sweet malt, bitter chocolate, toffee, burnt sugar, again lots of dark fruits and berries, light banana notes, medium roasty bitterness, some alcohol and warmth in the finish. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation, quite creamy. This really is a chocolate fruit cake! Excellent! (bottle, Bacchanalia, Cambridge)

2016 catch up - Bottle at home - A very, very good Baltic porter. A level of sweetness and beautifully smooth. There was a warmth of alcohol, but it was very well hidden. I didn’t get the bubble-gum or the banana that was indicated in the blurb. The second bottle was not so good; too yeasty, but it maintains the score because the first was great.
