Very dark brown with thin head. Lots of positives with the base elements of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The problem is the extremely watery body that fails to carry the flavour through.

Bottle from BIAB, cheers Fin as you got it there as well. Pretty black, big tan head, nose has chocolate malt and sweetness, not much heavy roast. Flavor is a bit tutti frutti on the first sip, moderately sweet up front / mid fading to a light roasted barley finish. Not as bitterly hoppy as I expected from the name, less than the average imperial stout. I like the chewy character of the roast aftertaste. Expected more body for nearly 9%, but it's pretty good nonetheless. Dangerously, I could down 2 of these as easy as a couple of 12oz Guinness.

Bottle picked up from Belgiuminabox, webshop, Antwerp, Belgium and consumed at home Saturday 21st November 2820. We had a great Spinach and Ricotta lasagne and are listening to a random selection of music tonight. Pours hazy dark murky brown edging towards black with a slim tan head. The nose offers a roastiness, a little coffee and a hint of vanilla. Flavour is little wishy-washy if truth be told, however it's got chocolate, some dark fruits,a little nutty, hoppiness coming through, but overall a tad disappointing, bit watery. Tastes more like a BIPA/Imperial Stout hybrid.

Fles gedeelt met Roelzie1986. Het is een zwart bier met medium beige schuim. Het heeft een aroma van rook, koffie en gedroogd fruit. De smaak is gebrande mout, koffie, chocolade en licht kruidig.

1 February 2020. At Brugs Bierfestival. Cheers to Anke, Kevin, Niels & Cynthia! Hazy dark brown-black, very thin, frothy, tan head. Aroma of wet toast, coffee beans, vanilla, earth, prune, macadamia, milk chocolate. Taste is a sweet nutty & bready profile with accents of chocolate & raisin; slightly earthy hoppy in the finish, more dried dark fruits, slowly losing its - already faint - roastedness here, managing a 'spike' of warming whisky alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Decent enough 'Dark Ale' but misses the point a bit.

Newest Inglorious Brew Stars beer, a strong stout that is supposed to hop your brain. Shared with tderoeck at Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging. Eggshell-white, mousy, open, irregular head on a very dark bronze-brown beer with misty ruddy-mahogany hue. Aroma of caramel candy, chewing gum, Ersatz chocolate, toasted walnuts, fresh thyme, candied figs, cloves, rainwater and some background DMS (cooked broccoli). Sweetish onset with a light sourish edge, hints of raisins, figs and blue plum, medium carbonated, very smooth, slick caramelly and hazelnutty maltiness with a very mild toasty bitter edge, ending with a dash of herbal hop bitterness, some retronasal DMS and warming, 'jenever'-like alcohol. Weirdly less stout-like than Inglorious Quad, which is intended as a quadrupel... Clearly these guys, though they do lovely things from time to time, still need to work on their mastery of non-Belgian beer styles. This one needs considerably more roasted bitterness and 'darkness' and less bubblegum (which is a yeast effect); for me this beer clearly does not match the quality level of Inglorious Quad but I have to admit that my rating here is based on a very small sample and I will certainly dive into this one again when I encounter a bottle somewhere in a shop.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy to no head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit oxidized, dried fruits, nice roast, alcohol, lots of chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: soft roast, acidic, bit surprising, thin and watery, malty, grains, hay, cow fodder. Aftertaste: bit spicy, malty, grains, some caramel, bitter touch, bit watery, soft roast, bit of vanilla.
