We remember our first sip of hoppy beer, do you?
Nearly spit that $#!^ out. Now we fantasize about this stuff. Thinking about those hop cones… bursting with juice… ripe as all hell… makes you look forward to that first RESIN all day long. Can’t wait.
RESIN slaps you with serious unfiltered dankness — sure it stings, but it feels so good at the same time. It’s hop candy up front, but drinks super clean for the size of the beer.
Key Ingredients Chinook and Centennial Hops are a little old school, with tons of resin and pine notes. RESIN uses a ton of different hops, for a massively complex hop bouquet.

Can from Alexander Graham Bell. Appearance - golden amber with a nice fluffy head. Nose - dank cellar, resin. Taste - more resin, tangy orange. Viscous but lean orange peel note clears it all up at the end. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a long dry tangy finish. Overall - dangerously drinkable.

355ml can in Blackpool on 10th Sep 2016. Dull orange pour, white head. Hops rule this brew completely, piney, resinous hops (as the name suggests) ooze out of the can and fill your senses from start to finish.

330ml can. Pours a misty amber, thin white head. Aroma is vivid pine resin and mild white spirit. Taste is strong, syrupy highly bitter pine resin, strong caramel, alcohol, thick malts. I love a good hoppy beer but this has no balance at all, coming off jarring, slightly metallic and messy.

Can from Regal (JDW), Cambridge. Been looking forward to this all day. Brownish gold with a small but thick white head. The booze hits you right away with this one. The piney texture plays second fiddle so something akin to white spirit. Still it’s nice. Taste is sweet with bitter astringency in the back of throat late on in the sip. Spruce notes in the aftertaste. For all its imperfections - I find it to be unbalanced and not enough aromatic hop - it’s still a bloody great beer.

On tap. Pours a copper color with moderate head. Aromas of bread dough and toasted malts with a bit of dry jammy fruit. Flavors follow same with a huge malty presence up front and light bitter grass and pine to finish. Maybe a bit of camomile in the middle.

Amber color with a white head, good lasting. Aroma has notes of resin hops, tangerine and tropical fruits. Flavor with a decent bitterness, pine, resin notes, grapefruit. strong bitterness in the final with some dry mouthfeel.

This ale poured an medium Amber colour with a big, creamy head. Scents include hops, hops and more hops. Citrus and grass most prominent. First swig was off the charts hoppy. Very little malt flavour, all hops. You can pretty much pick out all different flavours of hops. Citrus, grass, spruce. Perfect example of an overhopped beer. Finish is hops, palate is hops. Might as well just eat hops and cut out the middleman. How does this get a 97%? You can’t sense or taste anything but hops. Half a can is more than enough...
