Dark brown and clear with thin head. Aroma and flavour are packed full of smoky leather. Smoked ham and meat. Loads of malt body and sweetness but it stays in the background

33cl Fles. Tegenvaller.

Today will be my sampling of a 33 cl bottle of Four Aces Peated Quad Whiskey Barrel Aged which was obtained from belgiuminabox some weeks ago. I am using my go-to Straffe Hendrik tulip glass. It just goes that way. The liquid is a dark brown with a bit of amber highlights. And the head is a thin ring of eggshell brown foam. The scent rising from the glass is appealing, toffee, dark fruit and candi sugar. But the drink is what I am here for. Hmm, I have not tasted anything quite like this. Peat and ash that are offset by the whiskey, dark plums, malt, raisins and dark bread. Complex but enjoyable, at least to me.

Good, bit fluffy dark cream head; virtually black beer. Peated, sweet, raisins, portwine, nuts, fusels - seems madeirisated well before its BBd. Jumble of sweet portwine and peat. Islay whisky lagered in red wine barrels that haven't been emptied enough. Typicall more port than whisky; fusels. Warming up, black chocolate with a bit of sugar. Very well-bodied, alcoholheat, viscous, voluptuous. Weird - but good. Thanks to Stef!

26/IV/20 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: XII/2021 (2020-379)

Clear dark purple brown beer, big solid creamy beige irregular head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, soft roast, lots of caramel, some ripe banana, smoky touch, mocha. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter, hoppy, nice roast, caramel notes, sweet malts, some banana, gentle smoky touch, nice. Aftertaste: pretty dry, more smoke, slightly peated, caramel, bit sugary, lots of alcohol, bitter touch, roasted finish.
