The latest in our Sour Series, we aimed to encompass the best flavours of a typical British summertime and throw it into a beer… just in time for this BBQ appropriate weather we are very much enjoying. Inspired by quintessential picnics on the beach, BBQs and countryside adventures and using ingredients synonymous with British summer time, the combination of strawberries and cucumbers evokes memories of sunny afternoons spent with friends and family; just how we want this beer to be enjoyed… (our beer version of that typical summertime drink, most famously drank and Wimbledon).

A sessionable 4.5% makes it perfect to enjoy on a hot, summer’s day; the strawberry adds a fresh sweetness whilst the cucumber adds a refreshing and cooling balance to the tartness of the sour beer.

30/IV/20 - 33cl can from Queens of Hop, shared @ home, BB: 4/X/20 (2020-385)

Pretty clear blond beer, huge creamy white head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots and lots of cucumber, fruity, bit sugary impression, some pickled cucumbers as well. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of watermelon flavoured candy, some strawberry jam, pickled gherkins or cucumbers, bit sweet, very nice balance. Aftertaste: more cucumber, nice acidity, strawberry jam, little bitter. Very surprising and entertaining beer, like it!

Keg at the brewery tap in Peckham Rye. Pinkish orange and hazy with a ring of pinkish white head. Cucumber dominates the aroma and the taste, although there's some hibiscus on the nose as well, and the sweetness of the strawberry can be detected underneath in the finish. It's a tart beer, but not too sour. Long cucumber finish with medium to heavy carbonation. Yum.

Can thanks to Dan. It pours hazy orange with a small white head. The aroma is earthy, chewy, resinous oily, stinky, tangy cucumber, gherkin, varnish, brioche, bready and green weed. The taste is slick, sweet - sour, tangy, gherkin, cucumber, pickled onion monster munch and some berry with tangy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Tastes like pickles, which thankfully I quite like.
