A hoppy brown ale brewed with Muscovado sugar and cacao nibs to balance the bitterness of healthy doses of American hops. It has a nutty flavour with subtle hints of liquorice coming through, giving the beer complexity that satisfies the palate.

Bottle from Fresh Fields. It pours clear dark brown with a small beige head. The nose is soft, juicy, earthy, red berry, quite jammy, dark fruits, dark chocolate and earth. The taste is bitter, dark chocolate, charred wood, earth, burnt pine, earth, toasty, dark chocolate, ashy, cracker peppercorn and burnt toast with a dry, charred finish. Medium+ body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle split at Scopey 10K, thanks to Paulo, 26/11/15. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a decent light tan covering that retains well. Nose is earthy hop, pine, red berry, root beer, vanilla, biscuit. Taste comprises Ribena berry, pine needle, toffee, bitter hop, light cocoa sprinkle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with juicy hop bitterness. Decent enough CDA.

Bottle at home in London. Pours deep black-brown with a dense, creamy beige head. The aroma holds roasted malts, cocoa, scorched earth. Medium sweet flavor with nicely layered chocolate character, sturdy roast, some burnt pine, earth, orange, grapefruit. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Nicely balanced finish with more chocolatey malts, roasted malts, bittersweet cocoa, earth, toasted caramel, ripe citrus fruits, orange, tangerine, a little mango. Great balance overall. Not a hint of the alcohol. Excellent.
