Tap at Valhalla. Pitch black body, off-white to beige head. Smooth aroma, banana purée, light cocoa, raisins and oxidised maltiness. Medium bodied, very creamy, caramelly, light alcohol, banana purée, light cocoa. Sweetish. Subdued. Huh. Alcohol burn after the sweetness later, with some minerally notes. Bit disapointing.

Can. An oily black beer with a short-lived small tan head. The aroma has loads of maple syrup, with coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate, peanut butter and a roasted touch. It's full-bodied, warming and sticky-sweet on the palate, maple syrup, heavy caramel sauce, coffee, dark chocolate, some booze and a touch of brown sugar in the flavor. Didn't pick up much banana though, if any. No vanilla either, and the peanuts are missing in the flavor. Don't mind the banana missing, actually I think that's good. There's a hint of green bananas in the finish though. Quite delicious this one. 200824

330 ml. can. Black with little head. Smell is weird cloying sugar, caramelized, half chemical half excess of burned sugar. Taste is all excessively sweet boozy caramel, vanillin, chemical, sugar, stroopwaffel, harsh booze & harsh booze soaked banana, candy, caramel, burned sugar, this is sort of everything it promised but just worse really and weird, chemical, excessively sugary & boozy, I am rather disappointed;

330 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 12%. Pitch black colour, small tan head. Aroma of bananas, roast malts, coffee, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and peanuts, only a hint of maple syrup. Minimal carbonation. Cloyingly sweet flavour, with the same elements as the aroma, the maple syrup also comes through here. Sorry, this is way too sweet and sticky for me. Won't buy again.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy dark tan head that fizzes away in half a minute. Smooth soft palate, a luxuriant mild viscosity. Decent fine carbonation is well integrated in to this notable mouthfeel. Soft sweet dark chocolate malts, about as sweet as dark chocolate ever gets, still nowhere near sickly. Very well integrated on the underside, is strong but super smooth maple, not too sweet and with a touch of soft espresso, but with those concentrated coffee edges softened away. The rich and sweet chocolate and coffee - maple backdrop plays perfect host to the soft and ripe Cavendish banana. I'm going with organic Cavendish because it tastes that good and mass grown bananas generally suck. Some spice on the finish. Peanut? Mercifully not obvious because I cannot recall a single decent peanut beer, rarer than good pear beers and that's feckin rare! There is a light savoury streak that keeps the inherent sweetness from becoming cloying. Smooth viscous finish shows some alcohol spice. A rich and indulgent pastry treat. Keep this up and they could be challenging Amundsen. Challenging I said...
