Aged for 18 months in Isle of Arran Bere whisky barrels and made with Orkney-grown barley, you'd be hard pressed to find a porter as Scottish as this one! That long ageing period has given it a brooding, deep brown pour that carries dark scents of chocolate-laced leather. That slightly sweet cocoa carries over onto the tongue too, where its offset with red fruit and a subdued whisky kiss.

A colablack beer, a head is small and beige. Aroma has liquorice, bourbon, barrel, richness of dried fruits, some roastiness and alcohol. Taste has liquorice, richness of dried fruits, low vanilla. Slight dryness of barrel in the end. Full bodied, smooth with low carbonation. Good barrel aging but it's slightly too dominating in the aroma. Yes, still is enjoyable beer.

Bottle at home, ABV 10.5% on label. Pours dark brown, decent tan head. Aroma of wood, whisky, dark fruits, a little smoke. On the taste, there’s chocolate, wood, whisky, light peat & raisins. Sweetish smokyish slightly boozy finish. Light to medium body. Well balanced. Enjoyed sipping this one

Bottle, of course thanks to Ben! Pours deep clear black, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is cocoa, licorice, whiskey, hints of smoke, roasted malt. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, rich. Medium body. I thought Isle of Arran whiskey was crazy smoky, but this is not at all. Interesting.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a brown foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of light peat and woody notes with some whiskey notes and some black chocolates is really quite enticing. Taste is a complex and smooth mix of whiskey notes with some black chocolate notes, light woody notes with some subtle peat notes also noticeable. Body is about average with good carbonation. Superbly balanced with plenty of character and nice drinkability.

Off white fluffy head soon left a skim on a still, near black body. Full on whisky & dark spirits aroma with demerara & coffee. Feels like silk on the palate - so smooth. Minimal carbonation. To the fore there’s malt, whisky, demerara & dark chocolate followed by an aft of even more whisky, vanilla, dark fruits & raisins.
