Aged for 18 months in Isle of Arran Bere whisky barrels and made with Orkney-grown barley, you'd be hard pressed to find a porter as Scottish as this one! That long ageing period has given it a brooding, deep brown pour that carries dark scents of chocolate-laced leather. That slightly sweet cocoa carries over onto the tongue too, where its offset with red fruit and a subdued whisky kiss.

Isle of Arran Single Malt Whisky Vintage 2004. Piwo aromatem torfu buchnelo niczym para z parowozu, cudowne aromaty ziemisto-torfowe. Wyglad to ciemno brazowe piwo geste oi bez przepustu swiatla, piana bezowa sredniej wielkosci i srednio trwala, oceniam ja jednak na plus przy takim woltazu (moja edycja miala 10,5% alc). Co do smaku to jest bardzo zlozone, rozgrzewajaca szlachetnosc likierowego alkoholu, winiaku, porto whiski a nawet koniakowe akcenty, pojawia sie srednio mocna chlodna kawa troche czekolady mlecznej, A na zakonczenie sliwki w czekoladzie i Mon cherri, tak dlatego te slodkosci poniewaz moc alkoholu tu towarzyszy caly czas, ale tu w tym przypadku to bardzo pozytywne, to nie jakis prymitywny strong lager, ale szlachetny mocny i bardzo dojrzaly Porter ze Szkockich wysp. Goraco polecam.

12oz bottle at Hanging Bat pours a muddy brown with some cloudy, grey head. Nose is chewy with brown sugar and nougat, some yeast, a touch cakey. Flavor is cakey, brown sugar, mild vanilla, rootbeer, nougat. Finishes chewy. Nice.

330ml bottle, from trade with AshtonMcCobb. Many thanks! Pours dark with good tan head. Aroma is sweet, with light whisky influence. Taste is rich, deep, sweet, with a beautifully integrated whisky character. Not too heavy, just wonderfully balanced. I love the original and this gives an added dimension. A really enjoyable BA porter.

500ml bottle, 10.5 % abv, bought at a Co-operative store in Kirkwall. A fawn-coloured head leaving clingy lacing down the glass. Deep mahogany in body appearance. Good looking. Oak vanilla with an inviting whisky touch on the nose. Comprehensive taste profile of brown malts, earth, prunes, raisin, leather and oak. Lingering whisky notes beneath added by a roasted twist. Full bodied. Excellent sipper (hotel room, The Shore - Kirkwall 14.04..2016).

Bottle from The Whisky Shop on the High/Golden mile (call it what you will) Edinburgh, consumed at home Sunday 17th April 2016 whilst making cooking Soya Mince and Cheese Pie. Solid black on the pour with not much of a head. Some mulchy liquorice on the nose with whisky (as you’d expect) Quite thick in the mouth, some warmth and when I say thick it’s also easy drinking really easy. It is big liquorice a bit of chewy stockiness, the whisky does burn a little. It’s good. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle. Pours a dark brown black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty woody whisky chocolate aroma. Slightly sweetish roasted malty woody whisky chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty woody whisky and chocolate finish.

Bottle. Black colour with brown reflexes, minimal brown head that does not stay long, almost no lacing. Aroma is quite intensive whisky, cherry, alcohol. Light bitterness. Good.
