Porter du Marché

Originally rated September 2009. Brewed exclusively for "Le Marché Vaillancourt" it says on the front label (which is the only label on the bottle) and with 7% ABV. Pours a dark brown colour with red highlights and has a fast cascade effect. The head is pretty big, beige coloured, good retention and thick patchy lace. The nose is full with plums, dark malts, raisins, hints of nuts and notes of light coffee. Alcohol is well-hidden with a smooth mouthfeel. The taste includes coffee, mild dark fruits, slight chocolat and loads of roasted malt in the aftertaste. The burnt flavour continues for a while. Pretty decent strong porter that goes down easily.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color porter with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malt with some sweet black chocolate. Taste was also dominated by some black chocolate with light roasted notes. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall I thought this was good but lacking character to be on my list of regular.

A deep dark porter with a thin light moka head. In aroma, a pleasant fragrant chocolate with light licorice notes, a bit of vanilla, quite nice. In mouth, a good sweet and bitter and chocolate, with licorice, molasses, with nice alcohol warmth, herbaceous hops. Rich and smooth bodied. I agree with Bedainedebiere, AMB makes nice strong beers.

Bottle. Milk chocolate nose. Brown, low head. Chocolate, plums, light coffee retronasal, a few hop aromatics. Medium, light sparkly body. Chocolate retronasal. Chocolate!

Bouteille 341ml. De couleur brune foncée et claire. Nez de chocolat au lait sucré, de malt légèrement rôti, léger de houblon herbeux et avec des notes fruitées (figues) et de café ainsi que des traces de fumée de tabac. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture moyennement crémeuse. Léger goût de fumée de tabac accompagné de notes fruitées (figues, traces de cerises noires) lors de lentrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût moyennement amer de malt bien rôti, un moyen goût de chocolat et des traces de mélasse sucrée puis en finale lon retrouve un moyen goût de café ainsi qu une moyenne amertume de houblon herbeux avec des petites notes dalcool et de fumée de bois. Post-goût moyen-long et aux notes asséchantes, moyennement amer de rôti, de café, léger de chocolat et de houblon ainsi qu avec des notes dalcool, de fumée de bois et de fruits (moût de cerises).
