We brewed a dark, decadent wheatwine-style ale with chocolate wheat malt to accentuate the richness imparted through barrel-aging. We then divided the beer into three components, laying each down in new American oak barrels with varying degrees of barrel toast and char. This release showcases the caramel, chocolate, vanilla and slightly smoky notes contributed from aging in medium toasted oak barrels. Taste it side-by-side with its light toast and alligator char counterparts to bring the barrel-aging journey full circle.

Bottle shared at Monyo. Pours deep brown, almost black, with off-white head. Nose is booze, wood, coconut, toasted notes. Taste is booze, negro, kokuszkocka, toasted notes, wood, low chocolate. Rich sweet finish, light to medium body, soft to average carbonation. Super complex and layered, if only it wasn’t this thin.

More bottle leftovers, thanks Jop! Dark brown, looks medium thick. Massive caramelly smell, some boozyness, not much bourbon. Fairly light body for Bruery, bit boozy, smooth. Taste is caramelly, light milky chocolate, some wheat. Richer than light. Fun!

Dunkel wie ein Stout - in der Nase sehr intensiv, Weinbrandbohnen, Kirschwasser. Im Trunk mit hoher Drinkability, erst mittig etwas intensiver im Alkohol. Dazu Rosinen, Mon Cherie, Lebkuchen, sehr würzig.

2017 bottle MoM. It pours opaque, pretty much back.with a small khaki head. The aroma is rich, earthy, toothy, chewy, umami, charred oak, cacao nibs, vanilla, touch of toasted coconut, burnt toffee, touch of bistro pipe smoke, liquorice and dried fruits. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, toothy, chewy, toffee, toffee crisp, dark chocolate, bourbon biscuit, charred oak, spicy, smoke, toothy, umami, coffee grounds, raisin, sultana, raisin, fruit cake, spice, liquorice, pipe smoke and earthy vibes with a rich, smokey finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. A fun aged ale. Drinks easier than it should.
