“Garde Dog” Biere de Garde is unfiltered with a hazy, deep golden to light copper appearance. Brewed with domestically grown French Hops and German Pilsner Malts, it gives craft beer drinkers a very enjoyable, light-bodied, subtlety sweet beer with toasty malt undertones. Garde Dog is the perfect compleiment to lighter fare such as seafood, salads, cheese and Middle Eastern and Indian foods

12 oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber color. Aroma is yeast, malts, and banana. Flavor is a nice spicy yeast flavor. A quite enjoyable beverage to drink on a cool spring day.

12 oz bottle-pours a thin white head with yellow/gold color with effervescence. Aroma is dry, yeasty, slight musty, grain/husky. Taste is slightly sweet light malt/grain/husky, dry yeasty, slightly musty. Some continental hops bite. Lager-ish blended with some mild Biere de Garde. So it’s kind of at the border of the style, but nice. OK carbonation.

Crystal clear coloured body with golden highlights and a very thin white head. Aroma of funky malt, strong caramel, nuts and a twang of citrus and yeast. Light-bodied; Strong assertive maltiness with some mild hops and stronger harsh alcohol and caramel. Aftertaste shows some malt and yeast with a ton of fake sugars that don’t show well. Overall, more of a junky helles than a biere de garde - this one just shows no character of the style, and really should be avoided! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 08-May-2008, sampled on 07-July-2008.

Very clear golden body with a medium frothy white head. Light caramel and honey with some floral hops. Very light flavor, some cheerios, light honey, slight graininess and more floral hops. Light body with moderately high carbonation.

Aroma of lager malt and lager yeast. I’m not even sure this is an ale. Gold color and quickly fading white head. Some carbonation. Sweet lager flavor. Very simple, it tastes like a quality lager but not really a biere de garde.

Pour is a clear bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma is grains and a sweet malt. Very faint. Flavor is more of the sweet malts with some bitterness and cream. No where near what the style should be. Almost more of a cream/golden ale than a Biere De Garde.

Got this beer as an extra in a trade with jmikolich. Thanks James. Pours a transparent rosy, gold with a slightly lacing white head that faded fast. First impression on the aroma was not good, I thought it smelled a bit like sweet urine. That faded fast, and left a sweet, grassy, herbal aroma. Luckily, the flavor was a little more appealing with sweet malt, grassy, and a little lemon all lurking. There’s a lasting tartness but otherwise the finish is watery. Doesn’t look great or smell great or taste real great.

Sample at Barley’s Smokehouse. The beer is a clear yellow-gold color with a thin and foamy white head that fizzes away steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Sweet aroma of malt with a bit of grass. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, hay and fruit. The finish is short and dry with sweet malt aftertaste. Slightly below average overall.

Pours crystal clear gold with off white head. It smells like a good pale lager (I feel a shiver down my spine realizing that I know that) with sweet sugary malts, noble hops and mild lemon zest. The taste starts the same with sweet sweet malts with floral and faint spice hops hanging just above. Then grainy malts mix with mild earthiness, some vague spices, sugar sweetness and a mild carbonation enhanced tartness. From midway to the finish it has a pleasing refreshing taste. Doesn’t seem too close to the label stated style though.

Bottle. Pours a golden body with lots of effervescence and a bit of a head that dies down fairly quickly Very translucent. Aromas are pilsner like... same hops peeking through a bready malt presence. Almost a bit of a bret-like funk lurking with some citrus. Flavor is different than I expected... it is fairly crisp. The spicy hops and the lemony zest keep this dog fairly lively while there is still a nice thick malt presence and a yeasty flavor that balances fairly well, but seems to fall a little short of the style.
