Can, courtesy of MiP. Pours fizzy, clear pale golden with quickly vanishing white head. Clear aroma of yeast and skunk with booze in the long nose. Sweetish flavpur of alcohol with unpleasant bitter notes - metal or hops? - that linger on the palate. Malty touches, yes, but all this is deafended by the booze. Never liked the style, and this specimen is not the best example of it, either. Sorry.

A lighter golden coloured lager, no head. It certainly doesn’t taste like the strength advertised on its can, it’s much easier to drink than expected, although its aftertaste is where you can detect the high volume content. Neutral taste.

500ml can brought back from Costa Rica
Appearance: Pours clear straw golden with a medium sized white head, light lacing
Aroma: Sweet malts, corn and wheat
Taste: Malts, corn, fruity and harsh hot alcohols
More of a malt liquor, not my thing. No carbonation when I opened the can, but mouthfeel is very lively. Footbalmed.

500ml can from Terre de Boissons Calais. Clear amber colour thick white head disappears quickly. Its a European strong lager. Tasty. Smells like a European strong lager, drinks like one, with a nice bit of burn on the finish and even some sting from the Vcarbonation or more likely hops. I like it, but then I like a lot of these beers. ery under-rated in my opinion. Well made, no off flavours. Big bold and gets you drunk. Job done.

500ml can, one month after its best before date, drank Jan 2010. Poured into a tulip stemmed ’Hoegaarden Grand Cru’ glass. Pale gold in colour, good pure white head on top. A slight mettalic smell, a hint of hops, but nothng much else. Dry and boring in the flavour stakes. The alcohol comes into play during the aftertaste. It isn’t too evident on the tongue, but as the mouth releases the beer it pops up and hits you. I’m not a big fan of these stronger lagers/pilsners, always remind me of late night beer shops and drunks. This one is no different. Too much alcohol for what is going on in the glass, ideal for headaches, not so good for a beer lover.

Blasée dark orange body with a tiny head. Aroma of orange and coriander, some sugar. Flavour is cloying sweetness, a faint hint of hops, sugary garbage and alcohol. Just crap, but it will certainly get you drunk with only a modest amount of effort.

I used to have this, years ago, to have a good booze for no money, and it always did the trick. 0.5L can, aggressive design. Sligtly dark yellow body with a small bubbly head with no lacing at all. Fizzy look. Nose of syrup and alcohol. Biting carbonation at first, then lots of sticky sweetness. Sweet malts (mostly corn), undefined dried fruit sweetness, some metal and a moderate kick of harsh bitterness in the finish. Again, lots of CO2. Body is light, oily texture. As predictable, good to get wasted, nothing more (also a 12% exists? haha).
