Why am i doing this? I was having a nice evening up unitil now. Aroma is dreadfull, skunk, chive, onion, diacetyl, bit of veg broth. Fucking terrible. Clear light amber, orange coloured pour with a thin white head. Flavour is tangy apple, light caramel ,nutty, veg, skunk, mineral. Palate is thin, watery, moderate carbonation. Terrible.

Bottle. Light drinking and mostly tasteless golden ale with next to no head. Has a small soapy-hop aroma.

Bottle from Sainsburys, Bicester, August 2013 consumed at home in garden Sunday 17th August 2013 Pours clear warm gold with white head. Oh how I despair over some English hops and boiled sweet beers. Described as fruity yet bitter, what utter shite, it’s got a metallicy twang taste of ’Happy Shopper’ boiled sweets and is just utter rubbish. The fact that it looks good and the rose bush was happy with the watering are the only positives I could draw. A4 A4 T3 P2 Ov7 2.0

Bottle from Sainsbury’s :-) Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head. The aroma is malty with a few honey notes. The flavour is medium bitter, hoppy with a smooth palate. Super refreshing and light. Great for the summer.

Clear 500ml bottle: poured into my ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint vase @ home on 28 Dec 2012 (not really Summer!). I just wanted something light after all the food and drink I’d consummed over the festive season. Light amber body with a good solid foam head. The nose was bread, biscuity and slightly yeasty, I also detected some hop notes within the aroma (piney). The taste was a lot better than I expected: a pleasant blend of maltines balanced nicely with a fruity bitterness from the hops. Shepherd Neame get stick for some of their beers, but this one is OK. Easy to drink and well put together, glad I made the effort to buy it.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys funnily enough. It’s been ages since I’ve had a newish Sheps beer in a clear bottle and I can’t wait to see if it matches up with all the others I’ve had. Clear pale brown colour with lasting beige head. Aroma of lemon a bit like a bitter shandy aroma. Normally these are pasteurised to death and taste of boiled sweets, but this one isn’t so bad. Actually has a proper mouthfeel. Yes maybe just filtered. It’s ok. A light bitter I would say. Some bitterness and zing on the finish. Bit of hersbrucker I suppose. Yep, it’s fine and I would almost say I enjoyed it.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s (where else?) - a hoppy nose, with a bit of citrus lurking underneath and a bit of grassiness. Pours a deep gold to bronze colour, with a very thin white head. A slightly sweet first taste gives way to a bitter lingering taste, with the bitterness staying a bit afterwards. Okay, but nothing special.

500ml bottle. Pours copper gold with a small head. Aroma is soapy, bready malt. Touch of lime. Taste has grass and bread. Touch of skunk. Bitter finish. No mistaking this is Sheps.
