Night On the Files

From a 440ml can on 3/3/2021. Pours a murky light to medium golden with a smallish head. The nose is strong and dank with lots of ripe tropical fruit notes. On the sip, it's very sweet and tropical up front - mango, pineapple, passionfruit and papaya, followed by a medium tangy/spicy bitterness, with some citrus rind, and the Nelson kicking in to give a mild vinous character. The mouthfeel is pillowy the carbonation moderate. Exhibits exquisite balance, great length and is plain delicious. Outstanding.

440ml can Sophie's Beer Store. Pours opaque, cloudy orange, pleasant frothy head. Aroma of pulpy stonefruit. Taste continues, lovely smooth palate, light drinkability, moderately sweet with pulpy stonefruit coming through nicey, some nelson white grape nestled in the background. Dry close. Great stuff, just a little too dry and light for an 8% DIPA perhaps.

440ml can at home. Pours a murky pale orange with a medium white head. Nose is juicy tropical fruit, small bit of cheddar and spring onion. Flavour is mango, apricot, pineapple, some biscuit malt. Soft carbonation.

Canned 440ml. -from Goblet Zagreb. Murky yellow coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, grapefruit and oranges in the nose. Sweet malty, citrusy, grapefruit, light dank and grass with juicy orangey finish.

Can. Hazy orange gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Airy palate, a very mild dryness. A good fine minerally carbonation. Light malts, a tad thin on the mouthfeel but imparting a decent creamy sweetness. Juicy Citra hops here. This old dog of a hop has plenty of bite left, unlike many of its littermate hops that are now largely toothless. Bright juicy orange and mandarin, a little tangerine. Soft pine underneath. A level of hop spice that is well integrated but starts to catch in the back of the throat. If the Nelson was like it was 10 years ago (i.e. intensely winey grapey), then this would be up there in the mid 4s+. As it is, there is some light white wine grape, if you are looking for it. A little pine before a spicy citric finish. Yeah. Nice job. So many new fantastic hops these days, we are properly spoiled, but Citra still holds its own. Tres drinkable.

Can at home, 30th December 2020. Pours a a soupy straw colour. Aroma is pineapple, orange, dank. Taste is super hoppy, pineapple, orange, pink grapefruit, dank, tingly hops on the tongue, bitter, fruity beautiful hop juice, CW is consistently great at the moment
