Sample from 2012 bottle during Blarney Wine Festival 2019 on 03/16/2019. Dark brown with amber around the edges and a medium thin light beige head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Sparse small patches of lace. Aroma of bourbon, oak, molasses and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, molasses and caramel malt. The finish is oaky and sweet with a bourbon and molasses aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle, #47. Aroma is a bit oxidized with some honey notes, but there is also quite a bit of chocolate, roast, dark toffee and caramel. Hints of raisin, fig and prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon character. Pours black with some dark brown hues and a medium large, thick, creamy, light mocha head that recedes slowly to a thin film that sticks around on the edges. Light lacing and moderately small legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with quite a bit of dark caramel and dark toffee. Also fairly strong chocolate and roast notes with hints of toasted bread. Light to medium light honey notes. Medium light bitterness. Light raisin and fig notes with hints of prune. Moderate oak notes with medium light bourbon notes and some light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer, but it is reaching the end of its life; if you have bottles now is the time to drink them. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, but its also pretty creamy and silky so that makes up for it.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Opaque dark brown beer, big tan head. Softish palate, a little dry. Fine carbonation. Not getting a huge amount of difference from the regular Bart! Perhaps a little more spicy. So very nice again!
