Cask during a Wetherspoon Beer Festival in 2011. My notes from then say healthy body, healthy tasting with a high bitterness.

[Cask at Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Vanilla & wood at first develop into a pleasant traditional farmyard and green leaf hop flavour with citrus hints and a nice tingle of pepper. Satisfying.

Half pint hand pulled cask at Willow Walk (JDW) Victoria. White layer that stays well on top of a slightly cloudy, amber body. Restrained aroma of dried fruits. Sweet malts, some spices and bittersweet dried fruits in flavour. Has also got a decent bittersweet ending. Likable (London, 22.03.2011).

Cask, handpump at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon 28.03.11 Pours gold with a thick and very noticeable big mouthfeel, its almost as though they are trying to rival the Ballast Point beer brewed at their brewery, in fact this stands up very welll next to the Ballast Point Calico which I had at the same time. Gold in colour, some burnt toffee, bitterness rips along the roof of the mouth, really decent bitter, nicely hoppt, tasty stuff. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 25/03/2011. Amber coloured with a tight, off-white head. Sweet, slightly earthy malts, with a touch of spicy hop in the bitter finish. Good.

Cask at Victoria station Wetherspoons, London. An amber coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Malty aroma. Tastes slightly sweet, malty, fruity, slight bitterness. I usually swerve Shepherd Neame beers as I simply do not like them but this was fairly decent stuff from them.

Cask @ Crystal Palace, JDW. Dark golden colour, off-white creamy head. Aroma is light malted, citrus, and fruits. Flavour is citric, light malted, followed by dry biscuit. Bitter finish. Finally something decent from Shepherd Neame.

Cask handpull at JDW Willow Walk Victoria. Amber clear colour very thin beige head. Sheps yeast character screams through this. Some sweetness from the malts. Actually quite sweet. Hops? Well yes there are some earthy Goldings on the finish. Some dryness and faint bitterness. Its fine. I would drink ut. But too sweet and not enough hop. 3.2/5.0. Re-rate Folkestone Spoons. Better. More hop. Pretty good to be honest
