Gravity cask from the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Dark red, clear and flat with a spot of off-white head. It's got a gentle oaky aroma, some malty notes, a little bit astringent. Sweet, malty taste with some sticky berry character. Some light bitterness near the finish but it's mostly a sweet beer. Flat, flat oily body. All in all a pretty good basic red bitter.

From wooden cask, third shared with Finn at Manchester Beer & Cider Festival, Wood Bar. Clear amber body, bubbles on the surface, poor lacing. Mid-dry malty smell, hints of toffee. Almond and nuts to the flavour character followed by a dried fruity bite towards a rounded bittersweet ending. Satisfying. (2nd day of the festival, 23.01.2020).
