Nils Oscar Julöl 2007 is a dark beer with great power and complexity. It is topfermented with yeast from Belgium. We have used six kinds of malt and the hops Pacific Gem from New Zealand. The smell is roasted and soft with hints of licorice and blackcurrants. The flavor is warm and full with a complex charachter. Nils Oscar Julöl 2007 is excellent for glazed ribs, game meat, mature cheese, nuts and bitter chocolate, but can also be enjoyed on its own majesty.

[4/25/15] Bottle sample at a tasting at omhper’s place in Tyresö. Thanks omhper, AndySnow and hackobock for sharing great beers! Deep amber-brown. Aroma of sherry. Dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, a bit of cardboard and an acidic hint. Sweetish flavor with chocolate, cardboard, caramel and fruitiness. Medium-bodied.

Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby/amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with notes of fruit and spice and touches of hops. Dusty onset, replaced by sweet notes of caramel malt and notes of hops. Bittersweet aftertaste. Well past the BBD but definitely drinkable and quite enjoyable.

Bottle from Voldby Købmandsgaard - dark reddish brown pour with very thin tan head. Aroma and taste is roasted malts, nutty, light choc and coffee, caramel, some dark fruits, light body but complex mouthfeel/palate. Has aged well, and obviously been kept well all this time. Very good indeed.

50cl bottle from my beer cellar, 5 years old. Clear deep burgundy pour with a thin tan head. A lovely beer worth waiting 5 years for.

Clear dark red-brown beer. Nice colour. A little Dr Pepper and Coca Cola on the nose! Light palate, slightly soft. Malt has a whisper of marmite but morphs seamlessly into something sweeter. Dr Pepper like generic fruits with a trace of bubblegum. Finishes smooth with creamy malt and a light smoke streak. Pretty complex flavour profile, the flavours integrating better as the beer warms up. Delicious!

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with a shortlasting tan head. Taste and aroma of chocolate, plum and spice, with a rather porter like tartness.
