Half-pint, gravity poured at the 2013 Birmingham CAMRA beer festival. Dark amber/copper in colour with a good off-white frothy head. Malts lead the way in both the nose and mouth: semi-sweet malty molasses vie with fruity hops throughout, but the malts win every time. Makes a nice chance from blonde bitters called ’golden’ and tasting of toilet duck.

Cask at JDW Bishop Vesey; brown pour with a velvety off white head, butterscotch this beer is wrong couldn’t finish it. I’m sorry this brewery has craft branding without any beer to back it up.

Cask at CBC Islington - London. Pours clear, amber-gold with a fine, frothy white head. Some lightly toasted, doughy bread in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor, further lightly doughy, lightly toasted brown bread, mild ripe orange, some leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Very good condition. Balanced finish, simple but tasty, lingering doughy brown bread sweetness, low bitterness. Good.

On gravity at the London Drinker beer festival 6/3/2013. Deep, ruddy amber with a slight, off-white head. Toasty malts, caramel doughy sweetness and some leafy hops, before a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell on 30th January 2013. Copper with thin off-white head and spots of lacing. Fruity aroma with berries. Spice, raspberry fruit and smoke hit the palate in-mouth while tangy citrus is present in the background. Smoky kick before a somewhat bitter finish with citric tang. There is masses going on in this ale. Light mouthfeel and body.

Bottle at the Den Haag RB tasting. Dark amber pour with a thin bubbly white head. Big malty aroma leading to a lovely warm rich malty woody bitter flavour. A real heartwarming ale. A real find!
