Can from Daily Delis, Amsterdam. Hazy dark brown, small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of candied date & plum, pear, wet tobacco, iodine, liquorice, peated whisky, teriyaki, black olive. Taste has sweet candied date, plum & raisin, hint of sourish berry in a thick malt profile of dark fudge, dark honey and syrup; iodine & herbal notes around it. Earthy hoppy finish offering bitter herbs, clove, wood, more dried fruit and warming peated whisky alcohol. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, average carbonation. Pure Islay in a syrupy BW. Lovely.

Heel zoet, turf, vingerverf, jodium, aards, veenlijk. Deze gaat me qua turf een stap of 3 te ver. Ik drink het wel op, maar jammer dat je alleen turf, suiker en alcohol proeft.

33 cl. can @ home, bought @ Una Mas, Nieuwegein. hazy dark brown with an off-white head. Very peaty aroma, that's Islay allright, with some dark caramel and dried fruits. Sweet caramel taste with a sweet finish. The peat is always present but mixes very well with the sweetness. Great barley wine.

0.33 l can from 'Ace Drinks', best before December 2025. Clear, very dark ruby with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, quite smoky-medicinal and slightly fruity aroma of molasses, lots of peat, iodine, raisins and prunes. Very sweet, malty, fairly smoky-medicinal and slightly fruity taste of molasses, quite some peat, iodine, raisins and prunes, followed by a long, moderately bitter, rather smoky-medicinal and a little boozy finish. Full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very intense beer, quite heavy on the whisky, matches perfectly with the sweet maltiness of the Barley Wine. Really good beer, one of the best of Kees' BA beers imho.
