A new way to enjoy our iconic Old Peculier! Until now our legendary Old Peculier has only been available as a cask conditioned beer on draught. However, we are proud to announce that the development of cold filtration has enabled us to apply a new conditioning technique to Old Peculier that ensures the unique flavours and aromas of the cask version are preserved. Served at a cooler temperature to suit contemporary tastes.

Brewed with only the finest malted barley, Challenger, Target and the majestic Fuggle hops. Fermented with the famous Theakston twin strain yeast to create its extra strength and complex character. The legendary Old Peculier is a deep, dark ruby coloured ale with a rich, fruity flavour with hints of black cherry and banana.

Cask at PoW. It pours clear deep ruby brown with a thick, fluffy beige head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, molasses, dried fruits, jammy, rapsberry, strawberry, toasty grain, brown bread and black bun. The taste is dry, toasty, bitter - sweet, toothy, toasted oak, toothy, chewy, light spice, dried fruits, raisin, sultana, jammy berry, treacle, tannin and dull alcohol with a smooth, toasty finish. Fulsome body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Rounded and nice depth. A totally different beer to the crappy bottled version.

Hand-pulled pint with a Pheasant Jalfrezi in the lovely Blacksmith Arms, Lastingham (after a very wet and cold 5 mile Yorkshire Moors walk) on Sunday 20th November 2021. Hard to believe I've never rated this beer in cask form before, glad I checked my stats! Deep mahogany body, beige head. Malty with a strong yet slightly hidden sweetness. An old classic I remember having in the late 1970's at a CAMRA festival in Truro, Cornwall. I was young once apparently.
