A new way to enjoy our iconic Old Peculier! Until now our legendary Old Peculier has only been available as a cask conditioned beer on draught. However, we are proud to announce that the development of cold filtration has enabled us to apply a new conditioning technique to Old Peculier that ensures the unique flavours and aromas of the cask version are preserved. Served at a cooler temperature to suit contemporary tastes.
Brewed with only the finest malted barley, Challenger, Target and the majestic Fuggle hops. Fermented with the famous Theakston twin strain yeast to create its extra strength and complex character. The legendary Old Peculier is a deep, dark ruby coloured ale with a rich, fruity flavour with hints of black cherry and banana.

Medium beige creamy lasting head. Clear deep dark red body. Musty prunes aroma with salty leather notes. Dry-sweet fruity caramelly taste with spicy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, smooth mouthfeel. Dryish dried fruit and prunes aftertaste with spicy caramelly chocolatey notes. Nice, delicate, and highly drinkable. (0.284l cask at The Black Swan, York.)

Dark red beer with a slightly bubbly head and smells of a mix of fruit and malt. The flavour is of fruit (some sort of red berry, perhaps?) and strong, toasty malt which carries through with a touch of hop for a lasting finish.

Just a lovely pint. Warming and comfortable. For when you want something that says ’quality English beer’.

Cask at the Stag & Hounds, Binfield, Berkshire. Dark chestnut in colour with a cherry red glow and a thin beige top; fruity aroma; sweet dark fruit flavour - almost like Vimto - at first, then revealling a soft, soild, caramel malt body; followed by a gentle bitterness and a warming biscuity finish. An excellent example of a winter beer.

Certainly dark, and smooth in texture and a slightly sweet aroma. Is an old-skool ale with a dominant although mild bitterness and little else.

On cask at the Half Moon, Windlesham - 03/08/12. Rich dark brown in appearance with a small off-white head. The aroma is a mix of sherry and port with a pinch of spice. Lots of flavours in the taste - dried fruit/berries, something slightly medicinal, a little wood also. Slightly tart on the palate a little sweeter on the finish and thin in the body for a 5%+ beer. A classic old ale!

20cl glass on cask, 5.6%. Dark mahogany colour, clear with one finger offwhite creamy head. roasty nose. Aroma is prominent on yeast and wood tones, roasted malts, then toffee, nutty, licorice and a banana-like fruity note. Taste is sweetish, light hoppy bitterness in the finish. Low carbonation, medium bodied. Peculiar, indeed.
