Triple Pastry Sour Ale with lime, pineapple, passion fruit, banana, blue spirulina algae, and vanilla
With the beer Tropical Space Muffin - if we can still call it a beer- we have aimed for an intense tropical experience and to reach that we ended up adding so much stuff the ABV hit 11,5%.
It's pretty intense now.
We were always in this ambiguous relationship with pineapple. We wished we could find a way to work with it but the fermentation profile was so far from the fresh fruit. And we didn't want to use pineapple aromas to enhance that. Instead, we tried to work with a fruit combination that leaves pineapple as the star of this beer.

Tap at Mad, köszi Marci! Deep greenish blue colour, thin head. Nose is light sourness, a sweet touch, some banana here and there. Taste is sour up front, but almost immediately comes some sweetness from the big body (and perhaps from the lactose too). Passion fruit pops up, citric tartness too, perhaps banana as well if I look for it. No trace of the pineapple, the banana is super vague all the way through, no coconut either. Promised a lot, but barely delivers, more of a gimmick tbh.

From tap at Café De Gezelligheid, Zwolle. Oh boy. Like drinking a cocktail. Passion fruit, vanilla, guava, mandarins, pineapple. Very tropical. Tartish flavour with plenty of sweet tones as well. Not as boozy as you'd expect. Retarded but kinda fun.

Aus der Flasche (bbe 26.07.2023) im 2022-09 getrunken. Diese ungewöhnliche, blaugrüne Fruchtbombe kommt mit deutlichen Aromen von Bananen, Maracuja, Passionfrucht und etwas Ananas daher. Die Säure ist hier sehr verhalten und paßt zum Frucharoma. Auch wenn es richtig gut gemacht ist und weil auch der hohe Alkoholgehalt überhaupt nicht bemerkbar ist würde man denken ein Fruchtsaft mit Südfrüchten oder ein alkoholfreien Cocktail im Glas zu haben, aber kein Bier. Es wird sehr schnell fast irgendwie langweilig - aber immer noch auf hohen Niveau.

Couleur bleue foncée sur une nuance fine verte, col verdâtre.
Arôme sur un bouquet fruité, pas mal l'ananas - notes sour funk.
Palais est un florilège de fruits tropicaux - petite note acidulée de l'ananas, agrumes - spiruline n'ajoute pas grand chose, si ce n'est le bleu. Ca part un peu dans tous les sens. En retrait, le côté acidulé se mélange avec un côté plus adouci de la banane.
In fine, passe vraiment sans être une bière à 11%. Reprend le côté bleu fluorescent déjà fait par BBP. Ici, la question reste, combien de tout cela est du fruit naturel ?

Cloudy deep blue to greenish blue beer, small creamy light blue head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, lots of lime, pineapple, lots of passion fruits, funky. MF: ok carbon, medium body, very thick mouthfeel. Taste: very sweet start, tastes like tropical fruit juice, Looza Ace, soft acidity, just very juicy… Not bad, but could’ve used some bitterness.

Can, 11.5%. Unclear turquoise with no head. Aroma is malt, fruit, lemon, lime and lacto. Flavour is malt, lemon, little vanilla, berries, citric, fruit and a little dry.
