BARREL AGED
Staying true to its roots, it’s been patiently aged in bourbon barrels for a warm, smooth and more-ish finish.

Can from Hoptimaal, Amersfoort. Caramel, maple, sweet dark malt, very gentle bourbon barrel. Toffee, caramale, light fudge. Rather sweet, medium to full body, sticky feel. Bit too sweet overall.

Can from Vocation & Co, Hebden Bridge. Black and pours like oil, settling with a very thin brown head. Sweetish tasting and somewhat sticky-sweet in texture, its boozy enough dark malts have a hint of spice with its barrel ageing evident in its nose. The actual named flavours on the tin maple is most stated.

Can at home picked up from HOTM. An opaque jet black coloured pour with a lasting dark tan head. Aroma is sweet, sticky brown sugars, maple, tangy fruits, blackcurrant, peacan. Flavour is composed of medium sweet, sticky toffee pud, maple syrup, blueberry jam. Not much barrel character. Palate is really sticky sweet, light spice, moderate carbonation, oily. Bit too sweet for me.

Can. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and a little viscous but comes with decent fine carbonation. Smooth sweetish dark malts, sweet dark chocolate. Mellow maple runs throughout, can often be overpowering but judged nicely here. Some underlying vanilla from the barrel, but the bourbon seems quite light, what there is quite ripe fruity. The pecan is another subtlety that comes right at the smooth finish. Comes together pretty well. A smooth rich drinkable pastry that isn't over sweet.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 24/12/21. Pitch black with a good sized khaki cap that stays for the show. Nose is sweet malts, nutty, honeycomb, molasses, maple syrup, pecan pie. Taste comprises maple, pecan pie, molasses, chocolate, dark fruit rinds, figs, brown sugar melt. Full bodied, oily slick feel, warming booze in the close. OK impy but overly sweet and lacking balance for me... expected more tbh and struggling to detect much in the way of any barrelled notes.

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Pitch black, brown foam. Lots of pecan, maple, chocolate, wood, vanilla, very sweet, full-bodied. Very good.

Black, light brown head. Chocolate and pecan aroma, maple, vanilla and light bourbon. Sweet flavour, pecan, vanilla, chocolate. Sticky, mild boozy buzz, quite sippable.
