Winner of two awards in the 1998 beauty of hops awards, this beer was especially brewed to use the "first gold " variety of hops, it has been described (by the award judges) as "orange peel and apricot blossom blended together beautifully" we prefer to say that it is an incredibly hoppy golden beer well suited to all "hop heads" everywhere.

Also available bottle conditioned exclusively at the Co-op as Gold Miner.

[500ml bottle from Co-Op High Wycombe] Under "Goldminer alias. Beautiful copper colour with a lovely orangey flavour leading into a spicy hoppy aftertaste. However, it’s spoiled by too much fizz.

Bottle, Co-Op, Hoylake. Best beer amongst the prevailing dross in Co-Op. Deep Copper colour, thin white head, orange jostles nicely with the hops to leave a slightly metallic aftertaste. Definitely worth a try.

Gold Miner bottle. Attractive amber colour with an off-white head and some light carbonation; aroma of hay and hops; tastes of grapefruit and apricot with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste.

Bottled as Coop Gold Miner. Pours clear, dark golden with a dense off-white head. Some roasted notes, caramel, malt and hops in the aroma. The flavor has bitterness at first, then there’s malt. Medium body and a hoppy finish with some anis. Decent beer. (061027)

500ml bottle from Co-op, labelled as Gold Miner, Bottle Conditioned. Copper colour with thin lasting white head. Interesting hop aroma. Grapefruit is really prominent. Juicy malt. Some light toffee. Grapefruit hop aroma is good with Thornton’s toffee in mouth and then balanced grapefruit hop tangy finish. This is a very good beer. Hop and juicy malt balance is excellent. Some creamy fudge and biscuit too.

I pick this up regularly on bottles from Headington Co-op under it’s other alias Gold Miner. Orange coloured and with nice hoppy and fruity floral and zesty aroma, good hop and malt taste and nice levels of bitterness.
