Bottle shared at the Kernel. Bottle says 8%. Pours mostly clear, deep amber with a frothy tan head. The nose holds rich bready malts with notes of butterscotch and toffee. Big sweet flavor with toasty bread, earth, toasted caamel, old fruits, leaves, mild butterscotch. Full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, more brown bread, light spices, crackers, dry earth, leaves, lethery berries. Pretty decent.

330ml bottle (8% ABV): BBD 6 Nov 15, poured at home into a Westmalle chalice on 31 Oct 14 and shared with no one. Would have been a clear deep brown body, but I allowed the sediment to leave the bottle, so we had a dirty, reddy brown body with a wispy, thin, off-white topping. The beer did not seem to lose any of it’s mistiness as time passed, it stayed cloudy throughout the tasting. Off wine and slightly vinegar nose and taste: infected? Some caramel, malty sweetness evident through the initial disappointment , this carried on into the taste, but again the wine/vinegar came through. I had been saving this for a special ’Dutch tasting evening’ (with myself), wish I hadn’t bothered, what a let down.

Bottle from the Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head and some broken lace. The aroma is light yeast, malt, red berry fruit. The flavour is medium bitter with a malt, smoky resin hop, alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation and lingering alcoholic bitter finish.

Tap @ DDDH, medium sample. Clear copper color, short head. Aroma of candy sugar, caramel malt, raisin, slight spicy, some grapefruit as well. Thick sirupy body. Quite sweet in taste, bit bitter. Small sipper. A bit on the sweet side, but lovely beer to finish the night with.

Muddy color. Tardy and surprisingly dry. Fruity, with a bit of smokey peatedness. Weird beer.
