(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 20 Feb 2013) Reddish brown colour with dense, beige head. Malty nose with notes of chocolate, caramel and dark bread. Malty taste with caramel, dark fruit, chocolate, hints of smoke and a certain sweetness in a finish with generous, spicy bitterness. Almost full body, with soft mouthfeel. Well balanced and quite intriguing. Very nice.

8%, rood/bruin met schuimig bruine kraag. aroma: volmoutig (caramout en gebrande mouten), gist, hout, koriander, kandij suiker. smaken: kersen, medium zuur, fruitig, medium zoet, licht bitter, medium body, vettig, normale co2, indruk: licht bitter, zeer moutig, hoppig, aroma verwacht een sterke volmoutige smaak ervaring maar dat valt reuze mee.

16/IX/2012 33cl bottle @ home - BB: 6/XII/13 (2012-1045) Thanks to Manon and erik for the bottle!
Cloudy dark muddy brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, strawberries, forest fruits, citrus, some exotic fruits, lychee, caramel, alcohol, some dried fruits, hint of chocolate and mocha. MF: good carbon, medium to full body. Taste: caramel, some chocolate, lots of alcohol noticeable. Also overripe to rotten fruits, bitter hops, some sour berries, bit earthy, caramel, sweet alcohol. On warming up, more exotic fruity flavours are coming out, pineapple, passion fruit, etc. Aftertaste: pretty bitter hops, bit of citrus, grassy, mocha, coffee, some caramel, sweet malts, dry hoppy ending. It's like a blend between a (bad) Belgian double and an IPA. Don't drink cold!

On tap at T’Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 03.03.12 Hazy muddy dark brown in colour with a light beige head. I was surprised by the style because I found this to be reasonably hoppy and quite bitter for a Belgian Strong Ale. It was a little rough around the edges with a smattering of spices, but I quite liked this. The version that I had was 8%. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.5

A nice hoppy and bitter beer. It’s slightly oily but that doens’t really bother me. Racked up a nice score.
