Late Red is a complex and richly flavoured Autumn Ale. Slightly red in colour, this ale is a balance between rich, dark malt flavors and a strong and robust hoppiness.

[500ml bottle, gift from my wife - cheers!] Lovely looking beer - deep amber-red with a large creamy head. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel with a light fizz. Rich aroma of fruit and toffee. Unfortunate metallic tang of pasteurisation at first, but soon rich toffee and woodland mulch take over. There a decent amount of hoppage - a little lemon, flowers and a flicker of pine. The crystal malt is very evident, but that’s OK in an autumn-style ale, and there’s just about enough hops to balance. Unfortunately the pasteurisation returns with a slightly cardboardy finish, but considering how heavily pasteurised this is it still manages to put in a surprisingly good performance. Without the pasteurisation this could be a truly great beer.

Bottle. Auburn pour with a fading, foamy whitish head. Some citrusy fruits on the nose with some semi-sharp malts. Fairly well balanced flavor, some honey and fructose, mild bread, light floral and citrus hops. Light to medium in body with lively carbonation. Malts, light alcohol and faint, earthy and fruity bitterness. Very average.
