Smooth and rich with flavours of coffee and chocolate, complimented by orange hop flavour to make an authentic yet remarkable stout.

500ml bottle - A bog standard look to this, black, thin tan head, nothing special. The nose is good, liquorice, toast, coffee, chocolate all the old favourites in a stout. Most of them are there in the taste, but it is a bit on the thin side, albeit smooth, Nice enough, but I’ve had so many better than this.

500 ml bottle, from The Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. ABV is 4.5%. Black colour, large to moderate tan head. Aroma of roasted barley and cold coffee, hints of ashes. Dry flavour, roasty notes of coffee and dark chocolate, a hint of ashes again. Moderate bitterness.

Cask at Market Porter. Pours opaque brown with a thin film of off-white head. Good roasted malt aroma with cocoa and coffee. Fairly sweet flavor, though the roastiness is less pronounced and the dark malt character is a bit awkward. Light in body with soft carbonation. Finishes with meak sweetness and some lingering roast. Bit of a let down after a strong start.
