Bottle from ASDA. It pours dark amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is nut, leather, smoke and toffee. The taste is nut, wood, light smoke, metal, dust, leather and toffee sweetness, with dry, woody finish. It’s far too thin and has low carbonation.

50cl bottle from Lidl. Mid brown in colour with a fast fading off-white head; aroma has caramel, malt and some musty hops; thin and watery with a caramel and malt flavour; and lacking any real finish. Boring.

Bottle from Traditional Scottish Ales, kindly shared by gunnar. ABV is 4.5%. Beautiful deep brown colour, moderate beige head. Very nice malty aroma with vinous notes, caramel and dark dried fruits, hints of oak. Malty flavour, preserved fruits, hints of oak, moderate bitterness.

Bottle. It’s a clear, pale amber beer topped by a small, beige head. The aroma is malty and biscuity. A meaty, buttery touch lurks in the shadows, and there’s also a nice fruityness. Sweet malty flavor with a buttery touch and fruityness. As expected, quite low on bitterness all the way. Medium body. A rather boring beer, but quite nice. 100212

500 ml bottle. Beautiful reddish body with a foamy white head. Aroma is malt with a hint of butterscotch. Flavor is malty, light bitter and a hint of butterscotch. Could have been a lot better without the butterscotch.
