The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. This 2010 special release will age well for years to come, or enjoy now in good company. Cheers!

Aroma: The aroma is heavy bourbon, some wood, vanilla, chocolate, and a bit of coffee
Appearance: It pours a thick, dark brown-black color without much head, and with light, streaky lace
Flavor: The flavor of this one is bourbon barrel first and foremost, with the malty flavors (chocolate, coffee, etc.) coming through more subtly and later on, there's a light bitterness on the close
Palate: This one has a thick, creamy mouthfeel, it is fairly heavy, had an average carbonation, and it has a boozyiness to it that makes it feel well over 8.5%, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is pretty good, I mean bourbon impy stouts are always good, but it just feels like an average example of a beer everyone makes. I don't mean that in a bad way, but it has to be better than this to really stand out in this style in my opinion.

2013 vintage - Pours pitch black with a beautiful brown head. Aroma of bourbony butter sweetness, roasty malts, hints of coffee, hops, honey and dark chocolate. Taste is sweetish, roasty and quite smooth with loads of bourbony notes, vanilla, toffee, wood, oak and honey. Finish is sweetish, woody and roasty with notes of oak, vanilla, toffee and honey. Quite slick but complex and balanced.

Bottle. Pours inky black, small dark brown head, dissipates fairly quickly leaving some lacing. Aroma is cocoa, anise, molasses, bourbon, vanilla, tobacco. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, rich and decadent. Full body, creamy mouthfeel. Very nice.

Thanks to John for sharing! 2013 release. Very great roasted vanilla in the nose. The beer starts sweet, smooth, probably too sweet, nice roasted, fresh, slightly bitter. The mainpart is quite sweet, roasted, molasses. Intense honey, wood. Smooth vanilla-burbon-aroma, very fresh, intense, sweetish, thick.

Rcvd in trade.
Pours like motor oil and it looks like pouring motor oil (wow, nice). There is a nice pure jet black colored body. The head is thin as there is less than a half a finger’s worth.
The smell has some dark chocolate up front with a super large amount of honey and then the bourbon comes into play. I do get some light vanilla and dark fruits.
The taste has all of the previously mentioned flavors come to combine and give off a slight oaky quality that ends up giving off a super sweet sticky oaky bourbon vanilla aftertaste. The finish is quick with a sort of vanilla chocolate alcohol coming into play slightly dry.
The palate is about a medium to heavy in body and not really sessionable - she’s a sipper. Carbonation comes across fairly smooth but with the element of Bourbon in there. I will have to admit the alcohol is slightly felt but honestly in a good way.
Overall, holy moley, did I have this at the right time or what? Because honestly, for a Double/Imperial Stout at 8.5% bottled in December 2013 this is some stellar stuff that I would seek out again.

Bottle thanks at RBWG 2014, thanks! Pours black with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of hot bourbon with a bit of chocolate, dark grains and light roast. Flavor has lots of dark chocolate with bitter dark grains and a bit of hot bourbon.

Bottle - Bourbon, dark rich malts, molasses and a great rich sweetness. Jet black with a rich brown head. A little soy and dark chocolate followed bit a bit of coffee and a bit of sourness. Lots of flavor, but well balanced and very drinkable.
