The Event Horizon Imperial Stout is an incredibly rich and luxurious beer brewed with ten malts, local honey, and four American hop varietals before and extended aging in oak bourbon barrels. The result is a beer with many layers of complexity. As the name implies, with one sip you will be unable to turn back. Bomber received in trade. Thank you bytemesis! Pours slightly viscous oily black with a small creamy mocha head that leaves some spotty trace on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is malty and roasty with roasted malts, dark bread, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, sweet liquorice candy, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and roasty. Mouthfeel is soft, fat, oily, velvety, round, tiny roasted astringent, tiny boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, dark bread, vanilla fudge, charred wood, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, sweet liquorice, toasted coconut, moist soil and bourbon alcohol. Intense fat and sweet imperial stout. A huge beer! Love it!

Black, tan head. Aroma of caramel, raisins, brown sugar. Sweet flavour, caramel, brown sugar. Finish chocolate, dark malts, brown sugar.

At Rich’s Massive Cellar Emptying Tasting. Event horizon pitch black with a thin tan head. Light coffee and chocolate flavor. Soft bodied. Syrupy sweet malt, bourbon and honey. A tasty surprise. as I knew nothing about this beer/brewery.

Bottle @ Drink Rich’s American beer, thanks to Omgrich. Brune foncée col crémeux moka. Arôme offre pas mal d’effluves de Bourbon, malt léger, caramel, fruité noir. Rétro sur pointe de vanille et boisé. Palais est malté, caramel avec pas mal de booze qui se fait ressentir. Le tout reste cependant correct offrant pas mal de notes de Bourbon. Le tout est épais et liquoreux, fruité noir et une fine amertume des houblons arrivant en fin de bouche. Complexe, avec un Bourbon restant bien présent mais dont le caractère des malt parvient tjrs à être bien placé. Le tout est équilibré.

@ Mega imperial stout tasting part 2. Pours pure black, creamy grey head. Smell is bitter, grainy, and big on bourbon. Taste is mildly bitter, very high on bourbon, roasted grains. Very intense, bit sweet. Very nice !

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Cris. Black with some light brown foam. Great aroma full of chocolate, bourbon, cookies, vanilla. Sweet flavor with chocolate, cookies, bourbon, vanilla, a bit of alcohol. Full-bodied and quite thick. Great stuff.

650ml bottle from trade with RobertDale. Thank you Bob! Black with brown head. Malty aroma, light roasted, lot of dark fruits, chocolate, caramel, light coffee, vanilla, wood, bourbon - alcohol. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Full silky body with soft carbonation.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Near black in color with a small brown cap. Nose is ripe with vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrel. Same in the taste, but huge! Loads of chocolate and vanilla, light bourbon sweetness, and woody. Good roast to balance and overall very smooth and silky, not overly sweet. Delicious. One of my favorites of the night.

Bottle @ home shared by Countbeer. Opaque pitch black color, small dark brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, honey, slightly roast. Taste malts, roasted malts lightly, bourbon, vanilla, bitter and slightly chocolate. Medium body, medium carbonation. Full flavoured, slightly alcohol, but very well done.
