It was a long, long time ago, that the Hofbräu Maibock was brewed for the first time: In 1614 the bottom-fermented beer specialty filled beer steins for the first time. Even today, Munich's oldest bock beer is still as popular as ever with its full-bodied, malty flavor. The relatively high alcohol content of 7.2% Vol. doesn’t do things half-way – and satisfies, especially honest beer connoisseurs.

11.2oz bottle pours out amber topped with a small sand head. Nose is sweet caramel toasted malts. Taste is more of the nice sweet caramel malts toast and some nutty notes.

Adding in my 300 Beers To Try ticks because I want to see how they impact my stats and some of them I will never see again. Will however re-rate them when practical.

On tap at Chinese Tower Biergarten in English Garden in Munich. Sold as Hofbrauhaus Urbock. Clear amber orange pour topped by a foamy beige head that largely dissipated by the time I returned to our table by the tower. Bready malt aroma hints at caramel. Sweet malt flavor has notes of dark honey, toffee and warming alcohol. Light spicy hop finish. Delicious.
