Can that pours a hazy golden-amber colour with a big frothy, creamy warm cap that hangs around a while, leaving some nice lacing. Big pineapple aromas with other fruity sweetness. The mouthfeel is slick, slightly oily at first, with a decent dryness in the finish. Even a little tart left on the tongue. Juicy tasting with less sweetness, but fruitiness is there. More of a balance between the grassy hops and the mango-orange juices. Bitterness does build. Pretty complex for the style all-around.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dank notes with some juicy citrus notes and huge hoppy undertones. Taste is also a mix of dank notes with some juicy citrus notes, light residual sugar notes with huge hoppy floral notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Huge IIPA with nice juicy hops presence and balanced residual sugar level.

16oz (thx, Jonathan D.!) shared with Andrey and Alex in Golden Ears on the North Beach. Appearance: murky golden with a white head. Aroma: candied citruses, stone fruits, sweetness, a bit dirty. Taste: along the same lines, very juicy. Overall: quite good.

Murky blond colour with generous head. Not too sweet, but it's not as juicy and fresh as the best examples of the stule, and it's a bit too chalky; traces of Parmigiano (probably the yeast).

(473ml can from L'Axe du Malt, Quebec City) Pours nearly opaque pale orange-gold with a decent white head and spotty lace. Aroma of sweet ripe and juicy melon like honeydew or piel de sapo, undertones of papaya, green mango and orange, bit of sweet brioche malt, very 'green' but not in the hop burn/onion way, just green tropical fruits. Flavour is softly sweet with that melon vibe from the nose totally dominating, mostly fresh and juicy up front but with a bitter melon peel vibe in the middle to finish, more green mango/papaya and unripe guava, some orange and white grapefruit undertones, sweetish pale malt core is quite clean, finishing dry with light to moderate melon peel bitterness and a touch of petrichor. Medium bodied, oily, low carbonation. Definitely a little unusual with the green tropical fruit and melon axis so dominant, but it's still a good beer with high hop concentration. Le Castor should definitely pursue these DIPA more.
