0.33 l bottle from 'EDEKA Preller' (Breckerfeld), bottled in August 2016. Clear, deep brownish red with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, light beige head. Sweetish-malty, moderately fruity, slightly roasty and a little vinous aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, raisins and plums. Quite sweet, malty, moderately roasty and slightly fruity taste of caramel, milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla and some dark fruits, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly roasty and minimally woody-dry finish. Medium body, smooth, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant beer, very smooth and mild, the original version has more depth though.

It pours a reddish brown, great head of foam, good lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, vanilla, toffee, pretty sweet smell overall. Taste follows nose with plenty of dark and milk chocolate, toffee, vanilla, but not as fresh/vibrant as I suspect it could be. Mouthfeel is just fine. okay.

Rating #1000. Mahagoni with no head. Aroma is phenols, clove, spices, chocolate, green apple, oak. Taste is sparkly spicy sourness with some phenolic sweetness and lots of alcoholic bitterness. Roast and cocoa in the dry finish. Full bubbled mouthfeel. Not easy to drink. Had the non chocolate version and thought it was amazing, so I thought this would make a good 1000. Didn’t enjoy as much as expected, though.

Bottle, 0.33l. Clear dark brown color with medium creamy tan-like head and sparkling appearance. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and vanilla. Taste starts sour bready and grassy, follows by mild sweet roasted malt and chocolate, even some medicinal notes present, mouthfeel is dry, while finish is medium bitter. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. I would prefer more creamy and less grassy brew, but that’s old ale...

330ml bottle. Clear dark amber brown colour with a creamy smooth off-white head, good retention. Aroma: light roasted malt, chocolate, caramel. Taste: chocolate, malt, liquorice, vanilla, molasses. Quite sweet overall with a slight bitterness in the finish, slight taste of alcohol too. Soft carbonation, smooth oily mouthfeel. Pretty nice brew.

Bottle. A- Molasses, milk chocolate, subtle bourbon. A- Brown color, murky liquid, tan head. T- Molasses, chocolate, subtle sweetness, mild alcohol. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- At first I thought I bought the regular Old Tom and was a bit disappointed when I found out it was the Chocolate version. As soon as I got a smell, the disappointment went away. This smelled like a Russell Stovers chocolate covered molasses bite and the taste is about the same. The bottle seemed bigger than it was too. Overall, I was surprisingly pleased with this one.

Kicsit sok a szénsav. Utóíze egy butított ESB-re hasonlít, némi savanyúval. Nem igazán jött be, nem tudom miért.
