Pours intense amber with ivory head. Aroma is mainly rich chocolate. Also, coffee and cola. Creamy, soft and mouth-covering. Quite well balanced flavours. Good.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - beautiful auburn with a lovely lacy head. Nose - tangy toffee and chocolate. Taste - chocolate, toffee, liquorice. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long tangy finish. Slightly sweet but a bit dry. Overall - decent. Possibly too sweet.

330ml bottle from beer52.co.uk. A reddish chestnut pour with a ring of cream head; fruity aroma with a trace of chocolate; smooth and bitter to start then developing some milky chocolate; then some sourish fruit and a warming finish with lingering chocolate. Not as much body as I expected, or would like.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe [160115]
Copper amber, clear, frothy off white head, some lacing
Aroma of fruity caramel, sweet candy chocolate, quite a strong nose, dab of vanilla, bit odd, chocolate seems artificial
Taste of caramel, sweet chocolate which seems disjointed in this beer, dab of soft bitter hops, some fruity caramel, unusual taste, getting a plastic note
Palate - Medium carb and body, quite sweet. Finish as main flavour,
Overall - The artificial tasting chocolate and Old Tom don’t really go together. Drinkable but not great.

330 ml bottle into pint glass, bottled on 3/21/2012. Pours fairly crystal clear reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light raisin/plum, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of chocolate, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate hop/yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, light raisin/plum, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toast, brown bread, herbal, grass, light raisin/plum, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of chocolate, dark/bready malts, and light-moderate hop/yeast ester flavors; with a good sweetness/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice flavored old ale. All around good robustness and balance of chocolate, dark/bready malt, and light-moderate hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
