Chang was made with the vision of the top executives to expand the beer market with a Thai taste albeit with international quality, to give the consumers an alternative with the fervent belief in the brewing and production capability of the Thais. With its attractive taste and a price that appealed to consumers at all levels, the response and success of Beer Chang marked a new era and turned a new page for the Thai beer industry. In 1998 Beer Chang was awarded the “Gold Medallion” at the International Beer Competition in Australia in the category of “Lager, Unlimited Degree”. Since then, Beer Chang has become known as “the international Gold Medallion winner beer of Thailand”.

Tämä versio suoraan Thaimaasta, 6.4%. Vaaleankeltainen olut kohtalaisella valkoisella vaahdolla, joka jättää aavistuksen pitsiä. Maltainen ja viljainen, aika pitkälle peruslagermainen ja hieman makea tuoksu. Maku maltainen, viljainen, asteen verran normilageria vahvempi. Oiva janojuoma ja varmasti hyvä tulinen ruoan kaveri.

Eines der besseren Thaibiere und mit 6% auch geschmacklich etwas erwachsener und weniger wässrig. Malzig-bitter im Geschmack, leichter Reis-Nachgeschmack (aber immerhin überhaupt mal einer).

Can, 6.0%. The good old sour grain aroma. Clear golden colour. Small frothy chalk white head. The flavour is surprisingly malty and does not have much of the graininess of the aroma. Also has a little alcohol punch, but no more than expected for the ABV. Decent for the style.

Can, 6.0% @ The Unholy Trinity Meets Again, Sønderborg. Pours clear golden with small white head. Clear aroma of yeast and inferiror malt, with notes of hops. Sweetish flavour of malt and yeast, with some hoppy notes and touches of fart. Acetic hints, especially in the aftertaste, which is otherwise estery and slightly bitter. Drinkable but just that.

Clear, light golden. Fluffy white head. Grainy cereal aroma. Malty flavour with citric bitterness. Rather watery but with the bitterness turning stronger - and more rough - later on.

Tried way too many times in Phuket. Pours gold with a small white head. Aroma of pale malts, rice and light hops. Sweet taste. Refreshing in the Thai heat, but that’s about it. ABV seems to vary despite always being labelled as 6.4%.

6.0% ABV version poured from a can in Thailand. Aroma has a light graininess with some corn character. Faint sulfur and light floral esters. Not really any hop character. Fairly clean without diacetyl. Pours a very clear pale yellow gold with a moderately thick,inch tall white head that slowly recedes. Light lacing and no legs. Flavor is rather bland with quite a bit of corn character and a light, sweet graininess. Medium low bitterness with no hop flavor. Bitterness in finish is a bit harsh. Low floral ester notes and light sulfur. No diacetyl. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency with low alcohol warmth. Overall it’s not a very enjoyable beer but it does the trick. It’s alright upfront, though a lot of adjunct but the finish is not very clean. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks troubles. Clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is a bit alcoholic, grainy, sweet, with light honey-ish notes. Sweet grainy flavor, a bit alcoholic, with a light unpleasant bitterness in the finish. Light-bodied and alcoholic.
