Brewed specifically as a competition entry, then going on to take first place, champion was the obvious name for this outstanding premium beer. With a rich, strong flavour and unique sweet and fruity character, champion is a firm favourite in the Mcewan's range. Full-Bodied, Smooth and Complex.

Creamy beige head stayed on a chestnut coloured still body. Nutty aroma with malt & dark sugar. Medium bodied, smooth & soft on the palate with a cloying back. Sweet malt tastes to the fore with demerara, nut & caramel followed by a tangy berry finish. Deece

Many thanks to Beerhunter111 for sharing! Smooth malty and slightly grainy sweetish beginning. Easy to drink, slightly boozy, grainy and rich deep in the end. Grainy sweetish - I prefer lower ABVs.

Sampled from 0.5 l bottle, best before July 2019. Clear, dark reddish brown with an off-white head. Sweetish, malty, a bit fruity aroma of caramel, nuts and a touch of dark fruits. Gently sweet, malty, a bit fruity taste of caramel, toasted nuts, some dark fruits and traces of chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, slightly dry finish. Medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Okay!

Pours a clear brown colour with a large foamy beige head. A roasted malty aroma, caramel and ripe fruit with a woody spicy hopiness. Moderately sweet and bitter, caramel fruity sweetness, and twiggy spice bitterness. Not bad.

Bottle at home. A classic ESB with plenty of sweet malts and a good balance of bitter hops. The malt gave a lovely mouthfeel it what was a thoroughly enjoyable beer.
