The only thing about this beer that has anything to do with maple syrup is that the beer looks like it. Sweet bready malts, no hops. Low bitterness in the finish, light sweetness. This is bland and boring.

Bottle from The Beer Store. Pours a clear deep reddish brown with a small off white head that disappears quickly. Nose is strong smoke with a maple backing. Nice sweet start with the smoke providing a nice accent to the maple. Medium slick mouth with soft carbonation.

Bottle from their spring 2014 seasonal six-pack. Nose not that strong on this beer. Mostly malts with just the occasional hint of maple. Pours a clear dark brown with a beige head that reduces to a ring around the edge of the glass. Tastes heavy on the malts, an upfront hit of smoke, some bitterness that sticks around for the finish. And maple floating around the back as a general sweetness. This is the third one I’ve had of these (3 per pack) and while I’ve enjoyed the beer, I’m not overwhelmed. Used to be enthralled with Mill St as it was right a the forefront, in Toronto, of this craft brew renaissance we’re in right now. Super hoppy (for the time) Tankhouse, innovative Organic, etc. But they’ve failed to really keep pace with the awesome brews being produced out there. Not to say they don’t have a few good ones for sale both in-store and at their brew-pub but...

Not very good. Just a light amber or lager with some maple. Pours amber without much head or lacing. Finishes a little bitter, a little sweet. Nothing special here. Tap at Winterbrewed.

A dark amber ale with a thin light mocha head. In aroma, sweet maple caramel malt with light spicy notes, dark fruits, smooth coffee. In mouth, dark fruity malt with molasses, maple, nutty notes, not bad.

This ale pored a deep amber colour with a big, frothy, light brown head. To the nose there are scents of malt, caramel and cereal. First sip was slightly thin and very malty. Flavors of light maple, toast, slight coffee and caramel. Finish is medium sweet with heavy malt flavours lingering. Very nice.

Bouteille 355ml.

Comes in a 6-pack of their 2013 Spring Sampler (3 of these, and 3 of the Spring Imp). Pours a dark amber colour, clean, with a big frothy beige head that lasts quite a while and gives out spiderweb lacing. Smells like a nut brown ale with lots of malt character (sweet and toasted), nutty notes and light hop. Medium-light bodied and wet mouthfeel. Mild hoppy start flavours with the roasted malt showing in the finish with just a tad of sweetness. I do not taste the maple syrup though, nor do I smell it. Still, a pretty good brown ale.
