Not for the faint of heart, but a nice effort for sure. A fluffy, slightly overwrought white head on a dark straw body. The nose is not that pronounced, featuring, tropical first hops and sweet, rich malt. Out of the blocks, gripping grapefruit and fruit rind hops are prominent. Tropical fruit add to the melange. Fresh, juicy, resinous and slightly astringent, the hops punch at at least their stated 92 IBU weight. There is enough chewy sweet malt to round out the bitterness, but there is still a bit of a raw edge to it.

A lightly hazed golden amber DIPA with a thin off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light grassy floral hops, light treacle, light treacle, pleasant. In mouth, a nice fruity caramel malt with light resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and smooth. On tap at Festibière de Gatineau hiver 2016.

Embouteillée le 15 juillet 2015. (6 mois de garde) Peut-être du à une trop longue conservation pour ce style, l’olfactif dégage une forte odeur de gazon brulé à la limite des notes de choux et de légumes bouillis avec en prime un caramel au beurre ressenti légèrement en début de nez. Le liquide se présente ambré aux tons cuivrés, assez clair, à la mousse de moyenne épaisseur et très persistante. Agréable dentelle sur le verre. En bouche, elle offre des accents de terre humide, de vieille branche et de gazon intenses de l’entrée à la finale, avec une astringence résineuse de longue haleine, qui persiste au moins une bonne minute en arrière goût. Je cherche les agrumes et les fruits tropicaux que je ne trouve pas. Houblonnage unidimensionnel et trop gras. Pas beaucoup de plaisir à boire cette bière. Donnons cependant le bénéfice du doute à la trop longue conservation.

Bottle: Poured a golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy and grapefruit notes with some caramel notes. Taste is a nice mix of floral hops with some citrusy and grapefruit notes with some light caramel malt and some residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well-made IIPA with good drinkability.
