2009 bottle: A huge surprise! A reddish brown ale with a thick dissipating dark brown head. In aroma, smooth caramel malt with dark fruits, light molasses. In mouth, a dense sweet maple caramel malt with loads of sweet coffee, vanilla, vinous character. After almost 4 years, this one is superb!

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with great retention and good lacing. Aroma of deep sweet malt with traces of candi sugar and nice dry raisins with a subtle notes of anise. Taste is more complex then I had expected with loads of maderized sugar and dry raisins with some great notes of candi sugar ad deep caramelized malt. Body is quite full with limited filtration and great carbonation with no signs of alcohol. While I appreciated most offering form this brewer I must admit that this is quite better then I had expected.

Light brown, hazy. Slightly plummy, bubblegummy aroma with hints of brown sugar. Fairly thin, but with some smokey notes. Vague plum and a fairly sketchy alcohol finish.

Bouteille 341ml (brassin no.1).

This is an excellent dubbel, one of the best I have had. It is indistinguisable from a real Belgian, and this is due to the yeast, which is very Belgian in flavor and aroma. Yeast and fruit aroma. Flavor is full with malt, and some dried fruit. Thick palate, a little sweet.
