The Emilisse Stout is enhance by a blend of fine Italian espresso beans used in the brewing process. It boasts a blend of 90% Arabica and 10% Robusta, which combine to give the Emilisse Espresso Stout an extra-spicy, full-bodied palate.

Flaske 0,33l delt med Randi og Rune på vertshuset Skarven 14 Jan 13. Svart. Et OK litt farget skum. Litt lacing i form av dråper. Beskjeden kaffearoma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken er godt integrert. Sjokolade i forgrunnen.

330ml bottle shared with Finn and Randi at Vertshuset Skarven. Firm and lasting tan-coloured head leaving dotted spots to the glassware. Deep dark body coloured with a shade of brown. Aroma of milk chocolate, rather subdued. Rich and fine blended taste character of espresso coffee and mid-sweet chocolate followed by a lingering, roasted bitter finish. Well bodied with a velvety mouthfeel. Very nice (Tromsø, 14.01.2013).

Clear ruby red to purple brown beer, big solid creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: mocha, coffee, caramel, sweet, chocolate milk, cocoa powder. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body, soft creamy texture. Taste: mocha, coffee, chocolate, bit sourish, alcohol, bitter hops, caramel. Aftertaste: cocoa powder, mocha, chocolate milk, pretty bitter hops, some caramel. Nicely balanced stout, love the hoppy dry ending.

Bottle at home in London, aged appx. two years. Pours dark black-brown with a moderate, frothy brown cap. Nose holds some smoothed dark malts, a bit of charred wood and burnt coffee, modest chocolate. Big sweet flavor with the espresso character picking up some speed, some burnt and dry wood, earth, alcohol, oak, baking cocoa, subtle roast, bitter burnt grass. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Quite warming to finish, some chocolate candies, mellow roast, plenty of char, ash, cocoa. A pretty nice beer overall. I’m guessing the espresso character may have faded out a bit with time (mea culpa). The beer does seem a touch thin for the style and the ABV. Still, it’s pretty tasty and makes a fetching nightcap.

Aroma is rather high on espresso. Also some licorice and chocolate. Flavour has lots of espresso, some dark chocolate and licorice. Contains enough espresso for a coffee geek, but still I feel something’s missing here.

11.16oz bottle pours dark brown to black with light mocha head. The aroma has sweet maltiness, honey sweetened dark roasted coffee and a bit of chocolate. The taste is pretty darn rich with a nice mix of dark roasted coffee and chocolate rolling into a bit of mineral notes. Into the finish malt sweetened coffee, black licorice and a bit of burnt malts usher this to closure. For me a little roastier and a little less sweet. Still nice.
