Bottle from Morrisons. Amber pour with a beige head. Nose is dried fruit, sweet spice, sultanas. Taste is much the same. Very spicy sweet. Spicy warming finish. Great take on the style.

500ml bottle as part of a delivery from ASDA. At 6%. Reddish caramel brown, clear with a small ring of white head. Light woody aroma, some berry aroma, aittle astringency. Taste is slightly sweet, more fruity and woodt character, English bittering hops which linger in the aftertaste. Medium carbonation. Delicious.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury's Shrewsbury. Clear amber pour, off-white head. Toffee malt aroma, continuing to taste with earthy hop and dried fruits with a smooth harmonious body and gentle sweetness overall. Hits the style admirably.

Bottle from local Asda store (at 6%) – drank at home. Pours a golden amber with a small off-white head, and decent carbonation. Malts to the fore in the aroma with hints of honey and hops. In the mouth it starts of sweet with a very viscous texture. Malts come through at once in the flavour, some traditional hops not far behing, then spices and ginger, till finally the alcoholic strength makes itself known. Finish is quite dry and bitter – but also smooth. This is very nice indeed.

New style and a cheeky kebab after a fun, if frustrating night. I really can’t tell what distinguishes this from a standard strong ale 🤷‍♂️ Big thanks for this one Gus H.

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket, Eccles. Clear amber-gold with a small head. Has a slight carbonation. Its strength is evident but its light tasting caramels are still its most dominant characteristic, and they help provide a somewhat smoothish brew.

[50cl bottle from Morrison's, Festival Park, Hanley, at 6% ABV.] A bright amber pour with a thin with head; rich malty aroma with a hint of red fruit; thick and syrupy in the mouth with a fruity taste rich caramel, and a slight effervescence; then a firmly bitter finish. Very good.
