Passionfruit IPA - 7.2%

Hazy IPA fermented with 4 super ester heavy yeast strains and then hopped with a lot new blaster hop Strata as well as a good bit of Citra and Nelson Sauvin. Aged on 60kg of fresh passionfruit.

Passionfruit on the nose followed by heavy dank fruit hoppiness. No extract or essence and no oats.

Can from lowcostbeer.com, 1 month past BBE. Light hazy yellow-gold, big white foamy head, nice retention, some lacing. Aroma and taste of soft wheat malts, passionfruit, some citrus zest and spice from the hops, light dryness. Medium bodied, slick, fine carbonation. Its a very solid flavoured IPA, with good use of passionfruit and nice soft malts. Nothing amazing but little to fault.

Keg, growler from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear gold with a decent white head. The aroma is soft and fruity, tropical vibes, big passionfruit character, juicy and tangy, mango, five alive fruit juice, gummy bears, apricot jam, pineapple, nip of pine and a touch of greenness. The taste is crisp, initially dry with a touch of bitterness, green, weedy, dank, then super juicy, tangy tropical fruit action, passionfruit, pineapple, mango, apricot, candy/gummy bears, hay, light resin and spice with a dry, slightly green finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Good fun.

Can. Overtone online shop. Thought it was an Overtone brew. Think it’s getting on a bit. Fully hazy orange gold. A fair few fruity floaters, probably because I’d been looking for the BBD on the bottom. Fine and clingy white head. Nose has passion fruit. Sweet peach. Wheat. Citrus. Taste is mostly sweet, with a moderate, citrus bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Lingering moderate bitterness to finish.

440ml Can Sophies Beer Store. Misty, unclear yellow, medium white head. Aroma of passionfruit, tropics. Taste brings light juicy passion fruit glimpses, some mild orange zest, nice yeasty esters, not quite as intense as expected but a minor qualm for an otherwise decent fruity IPA

440ml can. Slightly cloudy, yellow-ish, golden colou rwith average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, hoppy and yeasty fruity aroma, sweet-ish, biscuity malty background, rather unspecific fruitiness, quince, lychee, melon, herbal-grassy-spicy overtones. Taste is sweet-ish, biscuity pale malty, yeasty fruity, mildly bitter, fruity hoppy, minimally herbal-grassy-spicy, unspecific fruitiness, quince, woody yellow apple, melon, a touch of lychee. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine and soft, still efficacious carbonation. Unusual and rather unspecific fruitiness, can't get any serious hints of passion fruit, very nice herbal-grassy-spicy touch - not bad.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy orange with an edge of orange. Fluffy white head. Nose - passionfruit for sure. Zesty orange. Taste - more orange and a big passionfruit thing. Palate - light to medium bodied. Long, zingy bitter fruity finish. Overall - good.
