From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 20.06.16. Almost ebony. Beige head. Unappealing aroma of greeen apples, liquorice and - worse of all - star anise. Similar, but slightly better taste with yesterday´s coffee and some wood. Meh-

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Black colour, moderate beige head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee, dark chocolate and liquorice. Fairly smooth mouthfeel. Pleasant and well balanced medium dry and roasty flavour, distinct notes of liquorice but not the least overdone, also hints of coffee and dark chocolate, moderate hops. I’m quite ready for another one.

On tap at Både&. A black one, almost, topped by a small, dense dark beige head. The aroma is roasted and with a good dash of licorice. Wouldn’t mind more licorice though. Coffee and a bready touch. It’s full bodied, smooth and nicely carbonated, with a nice licorice flavor. Roasted malts, some burnt notes and hint of dried fruits and coffee. Lasting finish. Really fine this one. Not a quenching one, but dangerously easy drinkable and very tasteful. 160227

On tap @ Både &. Dark brown, close to black with a medium sized, lacing tan head. Rather light in aroma, dark malt, slightly roasted with a hint of liqurice. Flavor is sweet, dark, mild toast and a lot more liqurice than expected from aroma. Nice balanced body with a long and sweet aftertaste that seems to highlight the liqurice flavor even more. A nice and well balanced liqurice stout that gives the flavor away without overdoing. It’s probably possible to drink this beer with burgers etc, whitout distroying the food and still have the liqurice flavor relativly evident. Quite pleasant.
