Vanilla Zuidam Old Genever (12y On Oak) Milk Stout

Vanilla Zuidam Old Genever (12y On Oak) Milk Stout. Soft smooth Vanilla Milk Stout, Infused with Zuidam Old Genever aged 12 year on American oak. This Old Genever is rare and difficult to get in liquor stores. Before infusion we put the Madagascar vanilla beans for 2 months in the Old Genever. The taste is much softer and smoother then the Black. The taste is very smooth with vanilla, toffee, oak and chocolate. We used for the Black and Yellow the same Stout with Lactose.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, sulphureous, beige head. Sweet-ish, chocolately, minimally roasty, dark malty and slightly herbal-spicy aroma, hints of dark chocolate and lactose, some vanilla, a touch of herbal liqueur. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty and herbal-spicy, hints of dark chocolate and lactose, herbal liqueur, some vanilla, very mild tartness; well hidden alcohol.
Dissolved sugar enriched, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, medium to fine, soft, mildly prickly carbonation.
Nice composition, not overly complex, seemingly light and almost drinkable - enjoyable.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 26 Feb 2020) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee, hazelnuts and vanilla. Malty taste with notes of chocolate, hazelnuts, vanilla, coffee and a vinous finish with a mild roasty bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Rich and tasty, with a gentle genever touch. Very nice.

Draft at Rootz Winterbier Festival ‘19. Dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, fudge, light oak, jenever notes coming out but thankfully light. Flavour is light heavy sweet. Light full bodied with soft carbonation.

Nice esters bring an almost ‘banana milkshake’ flavour to it. Very nice

Side by side met de black. Iets voller qua zuidam, wat scherper ook. Zuidam jenever komt mooi door.

Dark brown with a beige head that fades completely. Lots of evident carbonation. Aroma of genever, overripe plum on a chocolatey malty base. Taste is mildly fruity, full of anise and raisins, then sweet with lactose and gin undertones. Body a touch too thin for the style; watery texture, carbonation jarring and uneven. Apart from the palate it works.

Tap at Rootz Winterbier. Dark brown with light tan head. Sweet roasted malts, leathery and nutty, boozy and dried fruits. Moderate sweet and bitter. Over medium body and soft carbonation. Creamy sweet candy and roasted with dry finish.
