33cl Fles van De Laat, 2018 reprise. Zwarte kleur, beige kraag. Veel zwarte Engelse drop, hout, licht boozy, veel harde smaken zonder echte balans, redelijk bitter. Medium body.

Bottle, 0.33l. Black pour, two finger frothy brown head, medium retention. Sticky lacing on the glass. Boozy nose, strong alcohol, some wood notes, caramel, coffee, mild roast. Medium to full body, average carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, chewy and creamy, moderate thickness. Bittersweet taste. Malty aroma, toasted caramel, roasted malt, molasses. Bready, sugar. Chocolate and coffee, dark fruits, licorice. Wood notes. Strong alcohol presence, dry and warming. Medium lasting finish, dry, lingering alcohol burn. Quite good but perhaps slightly unbalanced.

Bottled 330ml. -from Spicy Days Zagreb. Pitch black coloured, medium sized creamy brown head, chocolate and alcohol in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, brown sugar, slightly yeasty and light spicy with rather strong carbonation and noticable alcohol.

Fles thuis geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een zwart bier met een bruine schuimkraag. Het heeft een chocolade achtige geur met tonen van vanille. De smaak is gebrande mout, chocolade, caramel en vanille met een bitter zoete nasmaak.

Bottle from Deconinck. Cloudy black, small foamy, beige head. Intense aroma of rum-soaked raisin, oxidized red apple, fig, pear syrup, dark fudge, fondant, gravy, kahlua, meringue, whisky, cold coffee. Taste has sweet, almost heavy sweet raisin, plum & pear over a thick toffee & syrupy malt body with a dark chocolate & coffee roast powder effect into the middle. Touch of vanilla there, some sweet-umami jerky, gravy - or perhaps actual black pudding by association. Ends malty but decently peppery hoppy with lingering wet wood, vanilla, candied fruits & boozy bourbon alcohol. Full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Very thick, sweet with a somewhat meaty aspect, rather boozy but not disturbing here. More!

Noire huile de moteur, col fin beige.
Arôme est plaisant sur de belles effluves de malts - caramel, chocolaté, pointe de vanille et un léger effet booze en rétro. Le boisé de 'Four Roses' est bien placé même si ce dernier ne consiste qu'en des copeaux macérés dans cet alcool.
Palais est malté profond, pointe adoucie de copeaux de chêne qui apporte une pointe vanillée. Pointe de toffee avec une petite note rappelant un léger fumé en fin de bouche.

Bottle. Black. Caramel, soft roast and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty, slightly herbal flavor with raisin and licorice. Almost full bodied.

Entre vieillissement en fût, et vieillissement avec copeaux de chênes trempés dans du 4 roses, ce qui est le cas ici, il n'y a pas match. Soit la deuxième est plus rapide et monopolise moins de stock, mais en termes de finesse et raffinement on y perd largement. Et si globalement ce Black Pudding, collaboration entre les brasseries Vleemeester et Ghost est appréciable, elle n'est pas comparable aux mêmes bières du genre vieillies en fût (quand celui-ci est réussi, je le reconnais...). Le visuel est sur un noir sans mousse. Le nez est chaleureux avec le bourbon en avant et des arômes de café, chocolat et candy plus en retrait. En bouche, on aurait apprécié un peu plus de raffinement sur un cocktail cependant qui fonctionne. La vanille qui est ajoutée à la recette se ressent bien, en complément des arômes présents au nez. L'ensemble est doux, avec une texture moyennement dense et un l'alcool à 13 % qui ne se ressent pas et qui, même s'il est sur les devants avec le bourbon, manque de tension. Si la corpulence est bonne, petit bémol pour le final. Moyen.
